Trees

Colin,

Today Daddy got our Christmas tree from the same place we have been going to for years. It was rather uneventful, except for the fact that this is the first year Daddy did it alone. Ava did not want to go because it was too cold (it was 45 degrees), and Mommy said she would stay home with your Big Sister. So, off to the volunteer fire department Daddy went. The firefighter manning the tree post was very nice but could not get the chainsaw started. After careful assessment of the situation, Daddy got it started for him, and while he was grateful, we still had to pay full price for the tree. No worries really, they do good work for the community, so Daddy was glad to help and pay. Anyway, the tree is up, the lights are on, and Ava and Mommy are putting on the finishing touches. The last thing to go on every year is the angel topper. It is an old fashioned, no frills, no lights angel. Mommy and Daddy tend to like simplicity in things, and our tree always has enough lights to be sparkly, but not too many to be tacky. So, as we all finish the tree trimming and decorating, the angel will be (at least for Daddy) the symbol of a more simple and meaningful Christmas. Your Daddy could use a nice quiet and simple holiday in order to enjoy time with Mommy, time with Ava, time with you, and time alone to just reflect on the past 9 1/2 months and what the spirit of Christmas really means.

I love you, as always!
Daddy

p.s. not sure why this post disappeared, but here it is again
