Knuffle Bunny

Colin,

Yesterday, in part to not sit around the house and mope, Mommy, Daddy, and Uncle Sean took Ava to the Kennedy Center for the first time to see Knuffle Bunny. Just so you know, your silly Big Sister had a great time. She got to explore the Kennedy Center and see lots of the stages, the big head, fountains, the roof top terrace, and then cafe. She threw lots of pennies into the fountains and made lots of wishes, which she did keep secret like you are supposed to. She is pretty bright for a four year old as you well know.

Next, was the performance...Ava loved it. She giggled at the way the actors played up to the children by being very demonstrative and silly. She got worried for Knuffle Bunny when the bunny got "lost" in the laundromat, and she definitely felt like a big girl at a "fancy" theater. Daddy and Mommy even escaped without having to buy one of the very over-priced stuffed animals...whew!

So, as a way to "celebrate" your birthday, this worked out well and seemed to make the day a bit easier for Mommy as well. I know it took some of the sting out for Daddy and probably Uncle Sean as well. When we got home, Ava had fallen asleep in the car, friends left a few nice things at the door, and Mommy, Daddy, and Ava shared a private little acknowledgement and celebration of our own to make sure you got your time on your special day as well...but I will only share that time with you in my head and heart.

I love you!
Daddy
