Cheese Wheels

Colin,

Daddy used to think songs like this were sappy, overly sentimental, and downright cheesy at times. However, a little age, a little wisdom, and some life changing (to say the least) experiences have changed your Daddy's jaded view of things. Now Daddy understands that finding a way...any way to get the hurt, anger, confusion, loneliness, etc. out of your head is healthy (even if some do not think so). Imaging if all of that stuff stayed locked up inside the old cranium! The pharmaceutical companies would make billions more than they already do by dispensing "happy pills" to probably 99% of the human race. We would all be nice sedate automatons having drool wiped from our face by now recommissioned factory robots...not a pretty site. Thankfully outlets can be found and even if some days Daddy has trouble writing for various reasons, he never stops thinking about you and ways to share you and share with you in any way he can. So, if some of Daddy's posts seem a bit fussy or of base at times, just consider it one of those tougher days. However today is just sharing a song that age, wisdom, and experience have removed from the cheese wheel.

I love you!
Daddy

Tears In Heavn
Songwriters: Eric Clapton; Will Jennings

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I’ll find my way
Through night and day
‘Cause I know I just can’t stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please

Beyond the door
There’s peace, I’m sure
And I know there’ll be no more
Tears in heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

  1. Before our daughter died I had heard this song many times and thought it was a good song but didnt really pay that much attention to the meaning until just recently. As we all know, the backstory to this song is heartbreaking. The first time I heard it after our Z passed I could feel every once of pain Clapton was singing about. "Would you know my name...", "Would you hold my hand...", "Would you help me stand...", these are all things I hope and pray for when I finally get to see my little Z again! I miss you Zayana Grace!

Steven, I hope your journey is going well. Thank you for your continued support and know that we here in Portland are thinking of you and your family. Take care and have a good weekend.
