Colin,
Mommy and Daddy are expecting a new baby in September. It is wonderful, amazing, wanted, special, and crazy, frightening, daunting, and stressful all at the same time. Mommy and Daddy have known for a while, but we chose to keep quiet for the most part in order to appreciate everything this new baby has to offer. S/he is not a rainbow baby...not an angel baby, and not a replacement for you. This baby is just like you and Ava...an individual with unique qualities and quirks. This new baby will never fill the void you left, but s/he will bring life back into a home in need of an infusion, and when the new baby is old enough, s/he will know all about 'big brother' and how amazing he is/was.
I love you!
Daddy
Congratulations! That's great news! We don't use the term "rainbow baby" in our house, either. But she did help fill a void. Maybe not THE void, but at least A void. Her arrival was something positive to plan for and look forward to. I hope the rest of the pregnancy is smooth sailing.
ReplyDeleteThis is such wondeful news. I know that it is also incredibly complex and that coupling pregnancy with grief is hard, hard, hard. May this baby light up your life!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news!! I too am expecting a new little one in early July! I won't call it a "Rainbow Baby" either - but a new little life to love! I know Alexander would have been a great big brother and he will watch over his little brother or sister from Heaven! I agree it is wonderful and amazing and scary all at the same time!!!

ReplyDeleteChris and I are very excited for you and Ellen and Ava. Thank you for sharing such wonderful news! I'm sorry for being so MIA lately. Working on a few things of my own. Just know that we are thinking of you and your family, especially in the coming days. Take care my friend, I will be giving you a call here soon.
