Understanding Why

Daddy has been reading a lot the past two days trying to get a better handle as to why you died. I know the official cause is SIDS, but what causes SIDS? It seems that you were born with too little serotonin in your brain stem (ref). I know the word "serotonin" doesn't mean anything to a lot of people, but to you it meant the world...at least according to a lot of recent research. Now it means a lot to Daddy as well since SIDS is still such an discomforting and bitter pill to swallow. I know that this is only one piece of the puzzle, but at least it is one more than we had before, and that may not bring comfort, but it does bring some level of acceptance. Life is supposed to have reasons and meanings and hopefully one day researchers will find all of the factors that lead to SIDS deaths. Daddy will cry true tears of joy the day they solve this mystery, but for now all we can do is keep reading and hoping.
