Green Day

Colin,

This is a double post day since I have a lot on my mind. I was listening to the radio and thinking about a band that I have liked since they first came out...Green Day. They are known mainly as a punk band, but there is one song that is very un-punk like that seems appropriate today. It is called Wake Me Up When September Ends. The song is about the lead singer's (Billy Joe Armstrong) father who died when he was only 10 years old. Today, I can relate a bit more than normal, so I wanted to share it with you.

-------------------------------------

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father's come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends

-------------------------------------

Love,
Daddy
