The FDA has finally issued a letter (ref) telling manufacturers of SIDS prevention products to basically stick them where the sun does not shine...and it is about time. It is bad enough that medical science does not know what causes SIDS or how to prevent/cure it, but to have people try to make a profit by using parents fear and paranoia regarding SIDS is shameful and pathetic. Kudos to the FDA for issuing the letter. Shame on the FDA for taking so long to do so. Anyway, whether late or not, at least the FDA is making a step in the right direction. Hopefully there will be many more follow-up steps yet to come.
